This replacement unit fits HP Z230 and Z240 workstations as well as 600 and 800 G2 models using the six-pin connector. It matches the original part numbers 796349-001 and 796350-001. Builders restoring or servicing these specific HP platforms can install it directly. It is not suited for systems requiring a different pin layout or higher wattage than the original design.

Questions about this item

How is the 6-pin connector installed on the HP Z230, Z240, 600 or 800 G2 workstations, and what step is often missed?

Align the 6-pin plug with the motherboard socket, press firmly until it clicks, then secure the PSU with the chassis screws; the step often missed is forgetting to tighten the retention screws after the connector clicks.

What maintenance or replacement will the power supply for HP Z230, Z240, 600 and 800 G2 need later?

Clean dust from the intake vents and fan every six months; replace the unit if voltages drift, the fan becomes noisy, or the system fails to start under load.
