SuppliesMax BRTTN-229XXLBK Black Toner Cartridge

This SuppliesMax cartridge replaces the Brother TN-229XXLBK and delivers up to 4500 pages at 5% coverage. It fits the HL-L3295CDW, HL-L8245CDW, MFC-L3780CDW and MFC-L8395CDW colour laser printers. The unit is built with new and recycled components in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified facilities and is designed for 110V machines sold in the U.S. Using this compatible cartridge will not void the printer warranty.

Compatibility limits and page yield

The cartridge does not work in the HL-L3220CDW, HL-L3280CDW, HL-L3300CDW, HL-L3320CDW, MFC-L3720CDW or MFC-L3765CDW models despite similar naming. Yield is rated at 5% coverage, so pages with heavy graphics or solid fills will reduce the total count. The product is a black-only toner, so colour documents require separate cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges. It replaces both the TN-229XXLBK and TN-229VXLBK part numbers.

Installation and common issues

Installation follows the standard Brother toner slot procedure and requires no tools. The most frequent problem is inserting the cartridge into an incompatible model listed above, which prevents the printer from recognising the supply. Protective seals must be fully removed before insertion, otherwise print quality will be poor. Firmware updates on the printer occasionally cause recognition errors that a power cycle usually clears.

Questions about this item

Which SuppliesMax black toner model should I pick for my Brother HL-L3295CDW?

The BRTTN-229XXLBK is the correct super high yield black cartridge for the HL-L3295CDW, HL-L8245CDW, MFC-L3780CDW and MFC-L8395CDW; it does not fit the HL-L3220CDW, HL-L3280CDW, HL-L3300CDW, HL-L3320CDW, MFC-L3720CDW or MFC-L3765CDW.

What does the 4500 page yield mean when I am actually printing?

The 4500 page figure is measured at 5 % coverage, so typical business documents with denser text or graphics will yield fewer pages, while lighter text-only pages may go further.

What voltage standard does this cartridge support and what does that limit?

It is designed for 110 V printers sold in the U.S., so it will not operate correctly in machines built for other voltage regions.
