What it is

This is a two-pack of black MICR toner cartridges built as a compatible replacement for Troy 02-82020-001 and HP CF281A. Each cartridge is rated for 10000 pages at five-percent coverage. The magnetic toner formulation is designed for secure check and barcode printing on supported HP LaserJet Enterprise and Managed models.

Who it suits

Financial offices, payroll departments and any team that prints high volumes of bank-compliant checks or MICR-encoded documents on the listed HP printers. Buyers who need colour output, non-MICR standard toner or cartridges for printers outside the M604, M605, M606, M625 and M630 series should look at something else.

Deciding specification

The single figure that decides fit is the MICR toner formulation rated at 10000 pages per cartridge at five-percent coverage. If your workflow requires magnetic character recognition for cheque clearing, this specification confirms suitability; if MICR is not required, a standard toner is the appropriate choice.

Questions about this item

How do I install the SuppliesMax MICR toner cartridge in my HP LaserJet Enterprise M605, and what step is often missed?

Open the front door, pull out the old cartridge, remove the orange protective strip and tab from the new cartridge, rock it gently five times to distribute the magnetic toner evenly, then slide it in until it clicks — skipping the rocking step causes faint MICR lines on checks.

What maintenance or replacement will the SuppliesMax Troy 02-82020-001_2PK need after the 10000-page yield is reached?

Each cartridge prints up to 10000 pages at 5% coverage; once print density drops or the printer signals low toner, replace the empty cartridge with a new MICR cartridge — the drum is integrated, so no separate drum unit is required.

What limit appears first during continuous high-volume check printing with this MICR toner?

The 10000-page yield at 5% coverage is the first limit; heavy graphics or dense MICR fonts raise coverage above 5% and reduce actual page count before the cartridge must be swapped.
