8MP 4K AI Outdoor Bullet Camera

The Synology BC800Z is an 8MP AI outdoor network bullet camera that records 4K Ultra HD video at 3840x2160 resolution and 30 FPS. It features a 38 metre IR night vision range and connects via a single RJ45 Ethernet port with PoE support under IEEE 802.3af. Onboard AI analytics handle People Detection, Vehicle Detection and License Plate Recognition at 3 to 10 metres.

Suitable uses and limits

This camera suits installations needing 4K evidence-grade footage with AI event filtering and PoE simplicity. It works for licence-plate capture at 3 to 10 metres and occupancy counting with capacity alerts. Buyers requiring wireless connectivity, local card recording or a motorised varifocal lens should look at other models.

Deciding specification

The 38 metre IR illumination distance determines whether the camera covers the required outdoor zone at night. If the monitored area exceeds 38 metres, supplementary lighting or a longer-range model is necessary.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the BC800Z is recording 4K footage at 30 FPS after installation?

Check the live view in Synology Surveillance Station; it will display 3840x2160 resolution at 30 frames per second when the stream is active.

Does the BC800Z package include a PoE injector or must I supply one separately?

The camera draws power through its RJ45 10M/100M port via IEEE 802.3af PoE; a compatible switch or injector is not included and must be provided separately.

Which BC800Z variant should I choose for licence-plate capture at my entrance?

The BC800Z performs Edge Licence Plate Recognition at 3 to 10 metres (9 to 32 ft); select this model if your capture zone falls within that range.
