Purpose-built NAS drive

The Synology Plus Series HAT3320-8T is an 8 TB, 7200 RPM, 3.5-inch internal hard drive designed for 24/7 operation in Synology NAS systems. It uses conventional magnetic recording technology and a 512 MB cache to deliver consistent write performance across a 300 TB per year workload rating. Home and small-office users gain a drive validated for multi-user environments.

Verify compatibility

Confirm your NAS accepts 3.5-inch SATA 6.0 Gb/s drives and that a free drive bay with appropriate power and data connectors is available. The drive is tuned for Synology DSM firmware updates, so full integration benefits require a compatible Synology system running DSM. Buyers using third-party enclosures or non-Synology RAID controllers will not receive automated firmware maintenance.

DSM integration benefits

Firmware patches apply directly through DSM without removing the drive, reducing downtime during maintenance. Synology reports up to 27 percent faster sequential writes versus similar-class third-party drives due to combined firmware and OS-level optimisations. The 1.2 million hours MTBF and 500 000 hours of validation testing reflect the drive's alignment with the Synology ecosystem rather than generic desktop use.
