All-in-one zoom for APS-C mirrorless

The Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD covers a 16.6x zoom range, equivalent to 27-450mm on full-frame. It is built for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras and suits photographers who want wide-angle to ultra-telephoto coverage in a single lens. The bundle adds a backpack, 67mm filter kit, strap and cleaning accessories.

Simple mount with unified filter thread

The lens attaches to any Sony E-mount APS-C body without adapters and uses a 67mm filter size shared with other Tamron mirrorless lenses. The VXD linear motor drives fast, precise autofocus. The main installation caution is ensuring the camera firmware is current so the lens communicates correctly.

Consistent rendering across the range

Aspherical and special elements suppress distortion from 18mm to 300mm. Close-focus capability reaches 0.15 m at the wide end for 1:2 magnification. The variable f/3.5-6.3 aperture means light gathering drops at longer focal lengths, so sustained telephoto work may need higher ISO or support.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the 18-300mm zoom is focusing correctly after mounting it on my Sony APS-C body?

Test autofocus across the 16.6x range; the VXD linear motor should drive focus quickly and silently from the 0.15 m minimum distance at 18 mm out to 300 mm, with sharp results at both f/3.5 and f/6.3.

Which accessories are included in the bundle besides the lens?

The bundle adds a backpack, 67 mm filter kit, camera strap, lens cleaner, cleaning kit and universal lens cap tether.

Why choose the 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 over a shorter zoom for APS-C E-mount?

It covers 27-450 mm full-frame equivalent in one lens, reaches 1:2 macro at 18 mm and keeps a constant 67 mm filter thread throughout the range.
