All-in-one zoom for Sony E

The Tamron A071 covers 28-200mm with a bright f/2.8 aperture at the wide end, giving Sony E-mount shooters a single lens for landscapes, travel and telephoto work. Its 18-element, 14-group optical design targets edge-to-edge sharpness across the range. Moisture-resistant construction and a fluorine coating add durability for everyday carry.

Build fit and system impact

The lens measures 4.6 inches (117mm) long and weighs 20.3 oz (575g), keeping the kit light enough for all-day travel bags. RXD stepping motor autofocus works directly with Sony bodies, freeing space that a second telephoto or wide prime would occupy. Close-focusing ability at both extremes reduces the need for a dedicated macro accessory in many situations.

Thermals noise and power draw

The stepping motor runs quietly during stills and video capture, with no mechanical aperture blades to add click noise. Power is drawn from the camera body through the E-mount, so no external supply or battery is required. The compact barrel stays cool during extended shooting sessions, and the fluorine-coated front element resists smudges that could affect flare performance.
