Wide-angle zoom for Nikon F DSLRs

The Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 is a constant-aperture ultra-wide zoom built for Nikon F-mount DSLR cameras. It suits travelling photographers and photojournalists who need a weather-sealed lens that covers expansive scenes. The 15-30mm focal range delivers a 22.5-45mm equivalent angle of view on full-frame sensors.

Constant f/2.8 aperture across 15-30mm

A bright f/2.8 maximum aperture stays consistent throughout the zoom range, giving reliable exposure control and shallow depth of field for subject isolation. The electromagnetic diaphragm maintains accurate aperture blades during high-speed continuous shooting. At 15mm the lens captures ultra-wide perspectives; at 30mm it reaches a moderate wide angle, leaving tighter compositions to longer lenses.

Vibration Compensation and quiet USD autofocus

Built-in Vibration Compensation steadies handheld shots at slower shutter speeds. The Ultrasonic Silent Drive motor provides fast, quiet autofocus with full-time manual override for precise adjustments. AX, eBAND and BBAR coatings suppress flare and ghosting for higher contrast. The weather-sealed construction protects internal optics from moisture and dust during outdoor use.

Questions about this item

Will the 15-30mm f/2.8 zoom cover the same wide angles as my older 22.5mm prime on a full-frame Nikon F body?

Yes, at 15mm the lens reaches 22.5mm equivalent on full-frame, matching the field of view of your 22.5mm prime while adding zoom flexibility to 30mm (45mm equivalent).

How can I verify the Vibration Compensation is active after mounting the lens on my Nikon DSLR?

Half-press the shutter; the viewfinder image should stabilise noticeably, and the VC indicator in the camera display or lens switch confirms the system is engaged.

Does the box include the TAP-in Console for firmware updates, or must I buy it separately?

The TAP-in Console is not included; it is an optional accessory purchased separately for fine-tuning autofocus and applying firmware updates.
