What this drive is

The Team Group T-FORCE M200 is a 4TB portable SSD that connects over USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C. It weighs 83g and measures 2.19" by 4.13" by 0.43". The drive delivers sequential read and write speeds up to 2000 MBps and includes both a Type-C to Type-C cable rated at 20Gbps and a Type-A to Type-C cable rated at 10Gbps.

Speed limits of the interface

The USB 3.2 Gen2x2 link tops out at 20Gbps, so the 2000 MBps ceiling is only reachable when the host port also supports Gen2x2. On a 10Gbps Type-A or Gen2 Type-C port the drive will throttle to roughly half that throughput. The operating range is 0°C to 35°C; sustained heavy transfers outside that window may trigger thermal throttling.

Check your host before buying

Verify that your computer or console has a USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C port if you need the full 2000 MBps. Supported systems include Windows 10, Windows 8.1, macOS 10.11 or higher, Linux kernel 2.6 or higher, PlayStation 4 firmware 4.50 or higher, PlayStation 5 for PS4 titles and PS5 archiving, and Chrome OS. If your device only offers 10Gbps or 5Gbps ports, expect proportionally lower speeds.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 4 TB model or a smaller capacity for my game library?

The 4 TB capacity stores large 4K UHD video libraries and extensive game collections, while the series scales to 8 TB if you need more room.

What does the 2000 MB/s headline speed mean when I plug it into my PS5?

You can play and store PS4 games directly and archive PS5 titles at up to 2000 MB/s read and write, cutting large file transfers to seconds.

How does the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C interface limit real-world throughput?

The 20 Gbps interface caps sequential transfers at 2000 MB/s; the included Type-C cable supports the full 20 Gbps while the Type-A cable runs at 10 Gbps.
