TeKit 16.4 ft Digital Audio Optical Fibre Optic Cable OD 2.2

What it is and who it is for

This TeKit fibre-optic cable carries digital audio between components using a 2.2 mm diameter core and two male connectors. It is intended for anyone linking CD players, MiniDisc decks, DAT machines, DVD units or professional audio cards that accept an optical digital input. The 16.4 ft length suits typical rack or living-room distances without excess slack.

How it fits into a build

The cable plugs directly into standard optical ports on source and receiver units, requiring no external power or adapters. Its male-to-male design frees up electrical interconnects for other duties while eliminating ground-loop hum that can affect analogue connections. The slim 2.2 mm outer diameter allows routing through tight cable-management channels or behind equipment racks.

Capacity and headroom

The optical link transports multi-channel formats such as Dolby Digital and DTS as well as ADAT streams used in digital audio workstations. Bandwidth is sufficient for typical surround-sound bit-rates and professional sample rates encountered in the listed applications. Very long runs beyond the supplied length or extreme bend radii may increase attenuation, so the cable is best kept within the provided 16.4 ft reach.
