ATX 3.1 Power Supply Tester

The Dr. Power III Pro is a dedicated diagnostic tool for checking desktop power supplies against the ATX 3.1 specification. It connects directly to the 24-pin main board connector, 12V-2X6, 4+4 EPS, 6+2 PCIe, SATA and Molex leads. Technicians and system builders use it to verify voltage output, continuity and power-good timing before installing a unit.

Bench Testing Without a Motherboard

The tester plugs into every major PSU cable, letting you validate a power supply on the bench without a full system build. Real-time readings for +12V, +5V, +3.3V and +5Vsb rails appear on the colour display alongside the PG signal measured in milliseconds. Audible beeps and a red screen flag any rail that falls outside limits, freeing you from guesswork during assembly or repair.

PCIe 5.1 GPU Power Detection

Sideband SENSE0 and SENSE1 signals are read so the tester reports the exact wattage a modern graphics card can draw — 150W, 300W, 450W or 600W. It covers ATX 3.1 compliant units up to the 12V-2X6 connector standard. The tool does not load the supply, so it cannot confirm stability under heavy current or detect ripple that only appears at full load.

Questions about this item

How long does the PG signal measurement take to stabilise under sustained load?

The tester measures the PG signal in milliseconds for each rail, giving an instant reading rather than a timed stabilisation value.

Does the audible alert stay on continuously during an all-day test session?

The alert beeps once when a fault is detected and the display turns red; it does not sound continuously while the tester remains connected.

Which power-supply connectors must already be present on the unit under test for the 12V-2X6 check to work?

The power supply needs a 12V-2X6 (12VHPWR) output; the tester also accepts 24-pin, 4+4 EPS, 6+2 PCIe, SATA and Molex connectors for other checks.
