Portable Hub with Gigabit Ethernet
This Thinkstar hub adds a wired Gigabit Ethernet port and three USB 3.0 Type-A ports through a single USB-A connection. It is built for ultrabooks, notebooks or MacBook Air models that lack a built-in RJ45 jack. The aluminium housing keeps the unit compact for travel or desk use.
Wired Network Plus Extra Ports
The RJ45 port supports 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps Ethernet for stable file transfers, conference calls and HD streaming. Three downstream USB 3.0 ports run at up to 5 Gbps each, letting you attach external drives, input devices or webcams simultaneously. Backward compatibility with USB 2.0 and 1.1 preserves older peripherals.
Bandwidth Headroom and Limits
Combined throughput is shared across the Ethernet link and the three USB ports, all fed by one USB 3.0 upstream connection. The Gigabit line delivers full line-rate for wired networking, while the USB ports handle high-speed storage or accessories. Devices that need more than the single upstream bandwidth can saturate the link.

Questions about this item
Will the Micro USB connector on this hub wear out from repeated plugging and unplugging?
The hub uses a Micro USB to USB A connector; Micro USB ports are rated for several thousand insertion cycles, so normal daily use should not cause premature wear.
What limits sustained throughput when all three USB 3.0 ports and the Gigabit Ethernet port are active at once?
The single USB 3.0 upstream link caps total bandwidth at 5 Gbps, so combined USB and Ethernet traffic cannot exceed that aggregate limit.
Does the aluminum case get hot when the hub runs continuously with Ethernet and multiple USB drives?
The aluminum housing acts as a passive heatsink; under continuous load it warms slightly but stays within safe operating temperatures without a fan.
