What this cable does

A TODN Toslink digital optical audio cable carries S/PDIF light signals between devices with compatible ports. It uses POF optical fiber that is immune to electromagnetic interference and ground loop noise. The 3.3 ft length suits typical desktop or living-room connections between a TV, sound bar, DAC, game console or audio processor.

Signal integrity and noise

The fiber transmits lossless multi-channel audio up to 24-bit/192kHz and supports Dolby, DTS and 7.1.2 surround formats. Total internal reflection keeps the signal clean over distance, while the optical path eliminates ground loops that can plague copper interconnects.

Connectors and daily handling

Two 24K gold-plated pure copper plugs with a pure copper shell resist corrosion and block external interference. A 7 mm nylon braided jacket is abrasion resistant and tangle free, and the cable accepts 60° bends for easy routing. Buyers needing longer runs beyond 3.3 ft or coaxial electrical S/PDIF will need a different cable.

Questions about this item

How do I insert the Toslink connectors without snapping the 7 mm cable at the 60° bend limit?

Hold the metal shell, not the braided jacket, and push straight into the OPT In or OPT Out port until the square key clicks; forcing the cable past a 60° angle can fracture the POF fiber inside.

Will the 24K gold-plated pure copper plugs need cleaning or replacement over time?

Gold resists oxidation, so the plugs rarely need attention; if dust collects in the port, a quick blast of compressed air restores the light path without touching the connector tips.

At what cable length does the 24-bit/192kHz signal start to degrade?

The POF fiber is rated for lossless transmission up to 1000 meters, so the 3.3 ft length is far below any practical limit for 16-channel ADAT or 7.1.2 surround sound.
