A 147 GB 3.5" internal hard drive with Ultra320 SCSI interface and 10025 rpm spindle speed

  • Flash memory typeHard Drive
  • 147 GB capacity stores large enterprise datasets
  • 10,025 rpm spindle speed accelerates data access
  • 8 MB buffer smooths burst workloads
  • Ultra320 SCSI interface delivers 320 MB/s throughput
  • 5 inch form factor fits standard drive bays

Enterprise SCSI drive for servers

The Toshiba MAT3147NP is a 147 GB internal hard drive built for enterprise storage arrays. It targets system integrators deploying NAS, DAS or SAN infrastructure where Ultra320 SCSI connectivity is required. The 3.5-inch form factor fits standard server drive bays.

Three-platter build with Ultra320 interface

A three-platter design supports the 10025 rpm spindle speed and 8 MB buffer. The Ultra320 SCSI interface uses a 68-pin connector common in rack-optimised and tower servers. Physical dimensions are 5.7 inches deep, 1 inch high and .5 inches wide at approximately 1.65 lb.

High-speed spindle with mechanical cooling needs

The 10025 rpm spindle delivers fast data rates but generates noticeable heat and acoustic output in normal operation. Adequate chassis airflow is essential to maintain reliability. Power draw follows the demands of the high-speed motor and SCSI signalling.

Questions about this item

What real-world throughput does the Ultra320 SCSI interface cap at?

The Ultra320 SCSI interface caps at 320 MB/s theoretical maximum, though actual sustained transfer rates depend on the 10025 rpm spindle speed and 8 MB buffer.

What are the exact dimensions for mounting this 3.5-inch drive?

The drive measures 5.7 inches deep, 1 inch high, and 0.5 inches wide, weighing 1.65 lb, so it fits standard 3.5-inch bays with those clearances.

How do I set the SCSI ID during installation, and what step is commonly missed?

Configure the SCSI ID using the rear jumpers before mounting, then ensure termination is enabled only on the last device on the bus — missing termination causes detection failures.
