Two-unit mesh system for whole-home coverage

The TP-Link Deco X20 two-pack delivers Wi-Fi 6 AX1800 mesh networking across up to 4000 square feet. Each unit includes one gigabit WAN port and one gigabit LAN port for wired connections. The system supports router and access point modes with optional Ethernet backhaul for flexible deployment.

Check your modem and wiring before ordering

You need an available Ethernet port on your ISP modem or gateway to connect the primary Deco unit via the gigabit WAN port. Ensure you have power outlets near the intended placement for both units. The system works with any internet plan up to 1 Gbps and is backward compatible with all Wi-Fi generations.

Replaces standalone routers and range extenders

This mesh kit substitutes a traditional router plus separate extenders with a single managed network that uses self-healing, band steering and AP steering. The upgrade is worthwhile when dead zones persist despite a central router or when multiple devices need simultaneous MU-MIMO and OFDMA capacity on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

Questions about this item

What comes in the 2-pack box and do I need any extra cables to start?

The box contains two identical Deco X20 units, each with a power adapter. One Gigabit Ethernet cable is included to link the primary unit to your modem; a second cable is only needed if you want wired backhaul between the two units.

Should I choose the 2-pack or add a third Deco X20 for my 4000 sq ft home?

The 2-pack is rated for up to 4000 sq ft; a third unit extends coverage further or improves throughput in dense layouts, but is not required for the stated area.

What does the AX1800 label mean for actual speeds on my laptop?

AX1800 combines the 1201 Mbps 5 GHz radio and 574 Mbps 2.4 GHz radio; a single device uses one band at a time, so real-world throughput will be lower than the combined figure.
