Outdoor dimmer plug for string lights

The TP-LINK DP10 is a weather-resistant smart dimmer plug rated IP44 for dust and water splashes. It controls dimmable outdoor string lights, floor lamps or table lamps from a smartphone or voice assistant. The device connects via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only and requires no separate hub. It is built for users who want app-based dimming and scheduling for compatible exterior lighting.

App scheduling and grouping change daily use

The SmartLife or TreatLife app enables 1 to 100 percent dimming, custom on/off schedules and sunrise/sunset automation. Vacation mode randomises lighting to simulate occupancy while you are away. Group control lets a single command manage multiple plugs together. Voice commands through Alexa or Google Assistant adjust brightness after the initial app setup is finished.

IP44 housing and 400 W limit shape installation

The white polycarbonate enclosure carries an IP44 rating, meaning it resists dust ingress and splashing water in typical garden or patio positions. Maximum load is 150 W for dimmable LED or CFL bulbs and 400 W for incandescent types. Non-dimmable bulbs, smart bulbs, fans, transformers, motorised devices and low-voltage 0-10 V systems are not supported. The unit weighs 0.249 kg and includes a user manual in the box.

Questions about this item

Will the IP44 rating or the plug itself degrade and need replacement after long outdoor use?

The IP44 rating protects against dust intrusion, snow and water splashes. No user-serviceable parts are inside; the unit is replaced only if the housing cracks or the internal relay fails.

What load limit will I hit first if I run the dimmer at full brightness for hours?

The dimmer handles up to 400W for incandescent bulbs or 150W for LED and CFL loads. Exceeding either limit trips the internal protection.

Does the plug get hot or draw noticeable standby power when it runs all day?

In standby the device draws very little power. Under continuous load the housing warms slightly but stays within normal operating temperature for an IP44-rated outdoor plug.
