Matter-Certified Outdoor Dimmer

The TP-LINK MOR01B is a Matter-certified smart dimmer plug designed for outdoor string lights and dimmable fixtures. It integrates with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings through a compatible gateway. Users can control power, brightness and schedules from a smartphone app. The package includes the dimmer body and a handheld remote.

Sustained Load Handling

The unit supports a continuous load of up to 150 watts for dimmable LED bulbs and 300 watts for tungsten bulbs. Stepless dimming operates without flicker across the full range from the faintest glow to maximum brightness. The device maintains stable output during extended evening use for atmosphere or task lighting. Holiday light strings must be dimmable to function correctly.

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Remote Range

Control relies on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection and the included remote, which provides up to 100 feet of wireless range. The dimmer does not support 5 GHz networks, so router band configuration matters. Matter certification enables cross-platform local control once commissioned. Buyers needing dual outlets, dusk-to-dawn automation or 5 GHz connectivity should consider other models.

Questions about this item

Does the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi radio add noticeable heat when the dimmer runs all day?

The plug uses a low-power 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi radio that stays cool during continuous operation; no active cooling is needed.

Which hub or gateway must I already own to use Matter features?

A Matter-certified gateway such as an Apple HomePod, Alexa Echo hub, Google Nest Hub or SmartThings hub is required for Matter control.

Will the 150 W LED rating work safely with the older dimmable LED strings I already have?

Yes, any dimmable LED string up to 150 W is supported; non-dimmable or higher-wattage sets may flicker or trip the plug.
