Compact Smart Plug for Voice Control

The TP-LINK EP10 is a 15A Wi-Fi outlet that fits in a standard wall socket while leaving the second receptacle free. It connects to a 2.4GHz network and works with Alexa and Google Home for hands-free control of lamps, fans or seasonal lights. Setup is handled through the Kasa app with no separate hub required.

Sustained Operation and Scheduling

The plug is UL certified with a flame-retardant shell rated to UL94-V0 and nickel-plated pins for stable connections during continuous use. Users can create daily schedules or countdown timers to automate appliances, and an Away mode cycles devices to simulate occupancy while away. Group control lets multiple Kasa devices respond to a single command.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

The compact housing dissipates heat from the 15A rating without active cooling, so operation remains silent. Power consumption of the plug itself is negligible compared with the connected load. The 2.4GHz radio maintains a steady link for remote status checks and on-off commands from anywhere via the smartphone app.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the EP10 generate when it runs continuously?

The EP10 is a passive smart plug with no fan or moving parts, so it produces no audible noise and negligible heat during all-day operation.

What must I already own to set up and use the EP10?

You need a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, a smartphone with the Kasa app, and a standard North American wall outlet to plug the device into.

Will the EP10 block the second socket on a standard duplex outlet?

Its ultra-compact design leaves the adjacent receptacle free, so you can keep using the other outlet on the same wall plate.
