Nano USB adapter adds 150 Mbps wireless N to desktops and laptops on the 2.4 GHz band
Version N150 Nano
The TL-WN725N is a 150Mbps wireless N nano USB adapter that connects a desktop or notebook computer to a 2.4 GHz network. Its miniature form factor lets it sit flush against the USB port so it does not block adjacent interfaces. The adapter supports IEEE 802.11b/g/n standards and operates on the 2.4 to 2.4835 GHz frequency band. It is compatible with Windows XP through 10, Mac OS 10.9 to 10.15 and Linux Kernel 2.6.18 to 4.4.3.
The device draws power directly from a USB 2.0 port and has no moving parts, so it runs silently and generates minimal heat during normal use. An internal antenna handles transmission at up to 150 Mbit/s using DBPSK, DQPSK, CCK, OFDM, 16-QAM and 64-QAM modulation. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 40°C with humidity tolerance of 10% to 90% non-condensing. A single status LED indicates link activity without adding visual distraction.
Measuring 0.73" by 0.59" by 0.28" and weighing 0.07 oz, the nano adapter can remain inserted in a laptop or desktop when moving between locations. It supports both ad-hoc and infrastructure wireless modes along with 64/128 WEP, WPA/WPA2 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK encryption for secure connections. The package includes the adapter, a resource CD with a 14-language utility and a quick installation guide. Driver installation may be required and the latest drivers are available from the manufacturer website.

Other versions of this model
Plug the nano adapter into a USB 2.0 port then run the driver from the resource CD or download the latest version for Windows 10, Mac OS 10.9-10.15 or Linux Kernel 2.6.18-4.4.3; the step often missed is installing the driver before first use.
No scheduled maintenance is required; keep the USB contacts clean and ensure the adapter stays within the 0°C-40°C operating range; replace the unit only if it fails or if you need a newer wireless standard.
The 2.4 GHz band and 150 Mbps maximum data rate are the primary throughput limits; heavy traffic or interference on the 2.4 GHz spectrum will reduce real-world speed before any thermal throttle occurs.
