Delivers 300 Mbps Wi-Fi 4 with four operating modes, two fixed antennas and five 10/100 Mbps ports for small homes
The TP-Link TL-WR844N is a Wi-Fi 4 wireless router delivering 300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band. Two fixed omnidirectional antennas and 2×2 MIMO provide coverage suited to two-bedroom homes. It operates in router, access point, range extender and WISP modes. Parental controls, a guest network and IPv6 support are included.
This model fits users who need simple wireless access for web browsing, email and IPTV streaming via IGMP proxy, snooping, bridge and tag VLAN. It is not for buyers who require gigabit wired ports, dual-band operation or newer Wi-Fi standards. The four LAN ports and single WAN port are limited to 10/100 Mbps speeds.
The single specification that determines suitability is the 10/100 Mbps wired interface. If your internet plan exceeds 100 Mbps or you transfer large files between wired devices, this router will bottleneck the connection. For plans under 100 Mbps and primarily wireless use, the N300 wireless rate is adequate.

The router uses a 5 V 0.6 A supply, so it draws about 3 watts during all-day operation.
You need a cable or DSL modem and an active ISP subscription; the router connects to the modem through its 10/100 Mbps WAN port.
Yes, the 2.4 GHz radio supports 802.11n, 802.11b and 802.11g, so legacy clients can connect at their rated speeds.
