What This Module Is

The Transition Networks Cisco TN-SFP-GE-S-C is a small form-factor pluggable transceiver built for 1000Base-SX links. It connects through an LC duplex interface and fits standard SFP ports on compatible switches or routers. The part is supplied new and was first listed by the manufacturer in 2020.

Who It Suits

Network engineers adding short-range fibre uplinks to existing SFP cages will find this module matches the 1000Base-SX requirement. Buyers who need single-mode reach or a different wavelength should look at other modules because this unit is specified only for multi-mode SX operation.

Deciding Specification

The defining detail is the 1 x LC Duplex 1000Base-SX network interface. Confirm that your switch ports and cabling are designed for this exact media type before ordering.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1000Base-SX module or a different capacity for my link?

The module is a 1000Base-SX SFP with one LC duplex port, so it covers a single gigabit fibre run.

What does the 1000Base-SX rating deliver once the transceiver is installed in a switch?

It provides a 1000 Mbps optical link over multimode fibre using the LC duplex connector.

Which interface standard does the SFP use and what speed does it cap at?

The transceiver follows the SFP (mini-GBIC) form factor and is limited to 1000 Mbps by the 1000Base-SX specification.
