Converts 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 to 1000BASE-SX 850 nm multimode SC fibre up to 550 m
This media converter bridges a 10/100/1000BASE-T copper link with a 1000BASE-SX multimode fibre link. It suits network engineers extending LAN segments beyond the 100 m copper limit. The unit provides a single RJ-45 port and a single SC port for duplex fibre connections.
A compact enclosure fits crowded cabinets while unit and port LEDs give immediate link status. Auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDIX on the copper side remove crossover cable hassles. Fixed full-duplex on the fibre side and fixed link pass-through keep traffic flowing during fault isolation. Automatic link restoration re-establishes connectivity without manual intervention.
The converter replaces a direct copper patch when distance exceeds 100 m. On 62.5/125 µm fibre the reach is 220 m with a 7.0 dB link budget; on 50/125 µm fibre it reaches 550 m. The upgrade is worth it when legacy copper infrastructure cannot meet the required segment length.

The 1000BASE-SX SC port supports up to 550 m (1804 ft) on 50/125 µm multimode fiber with a 7.0 dB link budget.
One 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 port and one 1000BASE-SX SC multimode fiber port.
An external power adapter is required; the step often missed is connecting the adapter before linking the fiber and copper cables.
