RJ-45 PoE+ to Open SFP Media Converter

This Transition Networks SGPAT1040105FNA media converter bridges copper and fibre networks by converting a 10/100/1000Base-T PoE+ RJ-45 link to an open 100/1000Base-X SFP slot. It accepts power over Ethernet on the copper side so remote devices can be powered without a local mains connection.

Installers extending PoE+ to fibre

The unit suits installers who need to run PoE+ powered cameras, access points or VoIP endpoints beyond the 100 m / 328 ft copper reach by switching to fibre at the converter. It is not for sites that require a pre-populated SFP transceiver, a managed feature set, or a non-PoE copper uplink.

Open dual-speed SFP slot

The single decisive specification is the open SFP slot that accepts either 100Base-X or 1000Base-X transceivers, letting you choose the fibre type, wavelength and distance that match the link.

Questions about this item

Will the SFP transceiver need to be replaced separately when upgrading link speeds?

The open SFP slot accepts any 100 or 1000Base-X transceiver, so you can swap the module without replacing the converter.

What limits the maximum PoE+ cable run on the RJ-45 port?

The copper side is rated for 100 m or 328 ft at 10/100/1000Base-T, which sets the distance ceiling for powered devices.

Does the unit need extra cooling when running PoE+ continuously?

No fan is mentioned in the specifications; the converter relies on passive heat dissipation during all-day operation.
