Connects vintage CN36 parallel printers to USB 2.0 ports with a 10 ft IEEE1284 cable using a PL2305 chip
This 10 ft cable connects a USB 2.0 port to a CN36 parallel printer interface, letting legacy printers work with modern computers. It targets users who need to keep older tax-authority or office printers running without a native parallel port on the host machine.
The cable uses 80 braided shield strands around twisted signal pairs and a gold-plated USB connector to resist interference and corrosion. A moulded epoxy-fibreglass PCB and environmental PVC jacket provide mechanical durability for daily plugging and unplugging.
The IEEE 1284 implementation tops out at 1 Mpbs, so high-volume print jobs will transfer more slowly than on a native parallel port. Driverless operation is guaranteed only up to Windows XP and Mac OS 9.2; newer systems may require a virtual machine or alternative workaround.
