Connects a USB 2.0 port to a DB25 parallel printer with shielded, gold-plated connectors over 1.8 metres
This USB 2.0 male to DB25 female cable lets you attach a parallel printer to a modern computer that lacks a native parallel port. It is aimed at offices and hobbyists who still rely on older IEEE 1284 devices and need a simple plug-and-play link without installing extra cards.
The single specification that decides compatibility is the DB25 female connector built to the IEEE 1284 parallel standard. If your printer uses a different interface such as the 36-pin Centronics style this cable will not fit and cannot be adapted with the parts supplied.
Gold-plated contacts and 80 braided conductors inside a shielded jacket keep resistance low and reject interference during long print jobs. The USB 2.0 connection supports up to 12 MBps throughput so the link remains stable page after page without the slowdowns seen on unshielded leads.

The cable converts USB 2.0 data to IEEE 1284 parallel signals, so the 12 MBps link feeds the printer at its native parallel port rate rather than at the full USB bandwidth.
USB 2.0 provides the host link while the DB25 end speaks IEEE 1284; throughput is capped by the printer's parallel engine, not by the USB bus.
The moulded crystal transparent blue shell fits a standard DB25 panel cut-out and the non-slip thumbscrews secure it without extra brackets.
