Dual-Computer KVM with USB-C and HDMI

The TRENDnet QOCH4Z-23 connects one laptop with a USB-C port and one desktop with an HDMI port to two shared monitors, a keyboard, and a mouse. It is built for office, work-from-home, programmer, and AI-worker setups that need to switch between two systems without unplugging cables. The switch supports copy and extend display modes on Windows, while macOS is limited to mirrored output. Buyers who need to share three or more computers, or who require DisplayPort or VGA monitor inputs, cannot use this model.

USB-C Video and Power Requirements

The laptop USB-C port must support video through DP Alt Mode or Thunderbolt; a charging-only cable will not transmit an image. The integrated Power Delivery port supplies up to 60 W to the connected laptop, and the supplier confirms that claims of 100 W are not accurate. Supported resolutions include 4K at 60 Hz, 2560x1440 at 120 Hz or 60 Hz, and 1920x1440 at 144 Hz. An HDMI-to-USB-C adapter is not supported, so the laptop must provide a native USB-C video signal.

Plug-In Installation and Common Issues

The unit arrives with built-in cables and uses push-button switching, so no software or drivers are required for basic operation. Instability often appears when converters or conversion cables are added between the computer and the switch; the manufacturer advises against them. Both computers must have an independent graphics card and the correct native port — USB-C with video on the laptop, HDMI on the desktop — otherwise the monitors will not display a signal.
