Dual-monitor KVM for two computers

This TRENDnet SW06-SW273 KVM switch lets one keyboard, mouse and up to four USB 3.0 devices control two DisplayPort computers across two monitors. Each computer needs two DP ports and a USB-A link to share both screens and peripherals. Extended and Mirror display modes are supported for multitasking or presentations.

Thermals noise and power

The unit is a passive desktop switch with no fans or active cooling, so it adds no audible noise or measurable heat to a workstation. Power for the switching logic is drawn from the connected computers over the USB links, requiring no external adapter. Typical draw stays within the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 bus limits of the host ports.

Upgrade from single-screen or manual switching

It replaces a single-monitor KVM or the habit of unplugging cables when moving between two PCs. The jump is worthwhile when you need simultaneous 4K@144Hz or 8K@60Hz output on two screens and want instant switching via the front button or wired remote. Hotkey switching is not available, so buyers who rely on keyboard shortcuts should look elsewhere.
