A single-mode SFP transceiver with LC connector for gigabit links up to 10 km
The TRENDnet TEG-MGBS10 is a Mini-GBIC transceiver built for single-mode fibre with an LC duplex connector. It plugs into any standard SFP slot on a switch or router to extend a Gigabit Ethernet link up to 10 km (6.2 miles). The module complies with IEEE 802.3z and 1.0625 Gbps Fibre Channel specifications.
With no onboard fan the transceiver runs silently and adds minimal heat to the chassis. Power consumption stays within the normal SFP envelope so the host port supplies it without extra cabling. Operating temperature range covers typical indoor wiring closets from 0 to 45 °C.
The hot-pluggable SFP form factor lets you insert or remove the module without powering down the switch. A duplex LC connector provides a secure, keyed fibre patch-cord connection that resists accidental disconnects. Lifetime protection backs the hardware for the duration of ownership.

Align the module with the slot guide rails, push firmly until it clicks, then remove the dust caps and insert the duplex LC patch cable straight in to avoid bending the ferrule.
Periodically inspect and clean the duplex LC connector end-faces with a fibre cleaning pen; the module itself has no moving parts or firmware updates.
The module is rated for up to 10 km (6.2 miles); attenuation beyond that span will cause errors first under sustained 1.0625 Gbps traffic.
