AX1800 WiFi 6 PoE+ access point

The TRENDnet TEW-921DAP is a high-performance AX1800 dual-band WiFi 6 access point powered by PoE+. It delivers up to 1201Mbps on the 5GHz band and 567Mbps on the 2.4GHz band using 1024-QAM, OFDMA and MU-MIMO technologies. Multiple operating modes include Access Point, Client Bridge, WDS AP, WDS Bridge, WDS Station and Repeater.

Upgrade from slower or single-band hardware

Replaces older access points that lack WiFi 6 efficiency features such as OFDMA and MU-MIMO. The jump is worth it when a busy environment needs more simultaneous clients and better throughput on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. PoE+ power simplifies installation where mains sockets are unavailable.

Suits installers needing PoE+ flexibility

Ideal for deployments that require a single Gigabit PoE+ LAN port and support for up to WPA3 encryption. Captive portal enables hotspot applications. Not for buyers who need multi-gigabit uplinks, additional Ethernet ports, or outdoor-rated enclosures.

Questions about this item

Does the TEW-921DAP need a separate power adapter or can it run from a PoE+ switch?

The TEW-921DAP has one Gigabit PoE+ LAN port so it draws power and data from a single Ethernet cable connected to a PoE+ injector or switch; no external power brick is required.

What is the correct way to mount the TEW-921DAP and which orientation mistake reduces coverage?

Mount the unit vertically on a wall or ceiling using the supplied bracket; laying it flat on a desk points the internal antennas sideways and weakens signal reach.

How often should the TEW-921DAP firmware be updated to keep WPA3 security current?

Check the TRENDnet support page every few months and apply the latest firmware release; each update patches vulnerabilities and can improve AX1800 band stability.
