Controls two DisplayPort 1.2 computers from one keyboard, mouse and monitor at up to 3840 x 2160 60 Hz with audio and two USB 2.0 ports
The TRENDnet TK-241DP lets one keyboard, mouse and monitor control two DisplayPort computers. It is built for workstations that need 4K UHD output at 60 Hz or 2560 x 1440 at 144 Hz without installing drivers. Buyers who need to manage more than two systems cannot use this switch.
The unit draws power from the connected USB ports so it adds no audible fan noise and no measurable heat to the desk. There is no external power brick to route and no software daemon consuming CPU cycles. Builders who need a rack-mounted KVM with redundant power supplies will not find those features here.
A pair of USB 2.0 ports on the front accept flash drives, printers or other peripherals that follow the active computer. The 3.5 mm speaker and microphone sockets pass analogue audio through the same switch. Users who require USB 3.x throughput or digital audio over DisplayPort must connect those devices directly.

Connect each computer using a DisplayPort 1.2, USB Type A, and 3.5mm audio cable kit, then attach your monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and microphone to the console ports; the step often missed is ordering the separate TK-CP06 cable kits for both computers.
The unit has no user-serviceable parts; if a 3.5mm audio jack or USB 2.0 port wears out from repeated plugging, the whole switch would need replacement.
The DisplayPort 1.2 link caps video at 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz, so that resolution ceiling is reached before any other constraint.
