20-Port Gigabit PoE+ Web Smart Switch

The TRENDnet TPE-1620WS is a rack-mountable 1U switch providing 16 Gigabit PoE+ RJ-45 ports and four shared Gigabit ports usable as RJ-45 or SFP. It targets installers who need managed PoE distribution for IP cameras, wireless access points or VoIP phones in a single 19-inch rack unit.

185 W PoE budget across 16 ports

Each PoE+ port delivers up to 30 W, while the total PoE budget is 185 W, so full 30 W on every port simultaneously is not possible. The switch handles a 32 Gbps switching capacity and 10 KB jumbo frames, with an 8 MB buffer to absorb traffic bursts during peak loads.

Rack-mount build with shared SFP flexibility

The metal chassis measures 440 x 251 x 44.45 mm and includes an internal 100–240 V AC power supply consuming up to 198 W. Four shared ports let you choose copper uplinks or fibre SFP modules per link, while the web interface, SNMP and optional cloud management simplify daily configuration and PoE alive-check recovery.

Questions about this item

Will the 16 PoE+ ports power my existing 802.3af cameras alongside new 802.3at access points without manual setup?

Yes, each of the 16 PoE+ ports supplies up to 30 W and negotiates 802.3af or 802.3at automatically, so legacy cameras and newer access points share the 185 W budget without extra configuration.

How can I confirm the switch is passing traffic and PoE correctly once racked and cabled?

The web smart interface shows per-port link speed, PoE power draw, and error counters; LED indicators on the front panel display link/activity and PoE status for every RJ-45 port.

What ships with the TPE-1620WS and what must I source separately for a rack installation?

The unit includes the 1U switch with internal 100-240 V AC power supply and mounting brackets; SFP transceivers for the two shared SFP slots and Ethernet patch cables are not included.
