Four-Port KVM with Audio and USB Hub

The Tripp Lite B006-VUA4-K-R lets you operate up to four computers from one VGA monitor, keyboard and mouse. It accepts both USB and PS/2 host connections and includes two 4 ft and two 6 ft USB KVM cable kits. A built-in two-port USB 2.0 hub shares peripherals such as printers or storage across the connected systems. The unit fits a standard 19 in rack or sits on a desktop.

Independent Switching for Console, Audio and USB

Each computer link carries VGA video up to 2048 x 1536 with DDC2B support and 3.5 mm speaker plus microphone jacks. You can route the KVM focus, audio stream and USB hub to different computers simultaneously. Switching is handled by front push buttons, hot-key sequences, an on-screen display in English, Japanese or German, auto-scan mode or a double-click of the mouse scroll wheel. The OSD provides an administrator account and up to four user accounts.

Passive Desktop or Rack Unit with No Active Cooling

The switch draws power from the attached USB cables and has no internal fan, so it adds no audible noise or measurable heat to the workspace. Its metal enclosure measures 1.6 x 7.9 x 2.75 in and weighs 4.82 lb, making it a compact, passive component in a server cabinet or on a desk. Longer 10 ft cable kits are available separately if the standard lengths do not reach.

Questions about this item

How do I install the four included USB KVM cable kits and the optional PS/2 kits, and which step is most often missed?

Connect each computer using the two 4 ft and two 6 ft USB KVM cable kits, or P757-010 PS/2 kits for PS/2 systems; the step most often missed is plugging the 3.5 mm speaker and microphone cables into each computer so the shared audio jacks on the switch actually pass sound.

What maintenance or replacement will this KVM switch need later?

The only items likely to need replacement are the supplied USB KVM cable kits or optional P756-010 10 ft USB kits if they become damaged; the switch itself has no user-serviceable parts, no fan, and no batteries to change.

What limit appears first when I run all four ports continuously at the maximum 2048 x 1536 resolution?

The VGA video bandwidth of the switch caps sustained use at 2048 x 1536 across all four ports; pushing higher resolutions or refresh rates will degrade the signal before any thermal or USB 2.0 hub limit is reached.
