What this cable does

This Cat6 patch cable connects network devices such as switches routers and computers using RJ-45 connectors on each end. The 7 ft length suits typical desk or rack runs and the grey jacket helps identify the link in a busy patch panel. It is built for category 6 category 5e and category 5 networks.

550 MHz bandwidth

The single specification that decides fit is the verified 550 MHz bandwidth which meets the EIA/TIA 568-B-2.1 draft 9 standard. This headroom supports Gigabit Ethernet and higher data rates over the full 84 inch run without needing a shorter or higher grade cable.

Thermals noise and power

Passive copper construction means the cable draws no power generates no heat and produces no audible noise during normal operation. The staggered pin plug design reduces near end crosstalk so signal integrity stays stable without active cooling or external power.

Questions about this item

What does the 550 MHz rating mean when the cable is installed in a real network?

The 550 MHz bandwidth supports stable Cat6 data, voice and video transmission up to the cable's 7 ft length, keeping near-end crosstalk low through the staggered-pin plug design.

How does the TIA/EIA-568-B-2.1 draft 9 standard limit what this cable can carry?

The standard certifies Cat6 performance up to 550 MHz, so the cable handles gigabit Ethernet and backward-compatible Cat5e or Cat5 traffic within that verified bandwidth.

What physical space do the snagless RJ-45 boots need to fit into a patch panel or switch port?

The snagless boots add minimal bulk over standard RJ-45 plugs, allowing the 84-inch gray cable to seat cleanly in dense patch panels or switch ports without catching on adjacent cables.
