Tripp Lite OM4 Duplex Fibre Cable

The Tripp Lite N820-03M-OM4TAA is a duplex multimode fibre optic cable built for 10Gb, 40Gb and 100Gb network links. It uses 50/125 micron OM4 glass terminated with LC connectors on both ends and meets LSZH and TAA requirements. The aqua jacket identifies the OM4 rating at a glance.

OM4 Bandwidth for High-Speed Uplinks

The OM4 classification supports 10Gb, 40Gb and 100Gb Ethernet over the stated distance without needing a higher-grade cable. LSZH jacketing reduces toxic smoke in plenum or riser runs where building codes require it. TAA compliance allows the cable to be used on federal procurement contracts.

Three-Metre Reach for Rack-to-Rack Links

At 3 metres (9.8 ft) the cable comfortably spans adjacent racks or patch panels in a standard cabinet row. It will not reach across an aisle or between distant rows without a longer assembly. Buyers needing longer runs or single-mode distances should select a different length or fibre type.

Questions about this item

Will the LC connectors on this 3M OM4 patch cord need periodic cleaning or replacement?

The duplex LC connectors are standard ceramic ferrules; clean them with a lint-free wipe and isopropyl alcohol before each mating to maintain low insertion loss.

What is the maximum bandwidth distance this 50/125 OM4 cable supports at 100Gb speeds?

OM4 50/125 fibre is rated for 100Gb/s up to 100 metres; at 3 metres you are well within that limit.

Does the LSZH jacket on this aqua cable affect heat dissipation when running 40Gb traffic continuously?

The LSZH jacket meets low-smoke zero-halogen requirements and does not change the cable’s passive thermal behaviour; no active cooling is needed.
