42U Rack Enclosure for Server Deployments

The Tripp Lite SR42UBKD is a 42U rack enclosure designed to house standard 19-inch equipment in data centres or server rooms. It supports up to 3000 lbs when stationary and 2250 lbs when rolling on its preinstalled casters. The cabinet ships unassembled so it can be moved through tight corridors and standard 7-foot doorways before final assembly. It is suited for IT teams deploying dense hardware stacks in confined spaces.

Knock-Down Design with Doors and Side Panels

The knock-down format means the frame, locking front and rear doors, and locking side panels arrive flat-packed for transport through narrow access points. Once assembled the unit is identical to the standard SR42UB enclosure, providing four interior vertical posts with unthreaded square-hole openings. The reversible front and rear doors and keyed-alike side panels simplify cable routing and physical security without extra hardware.

Verify Floor Space and Door Clearance Before

Confirm the installation area accommodates the assembled footprint of 23.6 inches wide by 42.9 inches deep and a height of 78.3 inches. Ensure the delivery path includes a standard 7-foot doorway for the unassembled components. The 24-inch standard width optimises floor-space usage but still requires adequate aisle clearance for rolling the populated cabinet on its casters and leveling feet.

Questions about this item

What replacement parts might the locking doors or side panels need over time?

The front, rear, and side panels use matching locks keyed alike; replacement lock cylinders or lost keys can be ordered from Tripp Lite using the cabinet model number.

At what load does the rolling weight limit become the limiting factor when moving the cabinet?

The rolling capacity is 2250 lbs; exceeding that while the unit is on its preinstalled casters risks wheel or frame damage.

How much heat can the front-to-rear ventilation handle when the cabinet runs continuously?

The open perforation on both locking doors provides massive front-to-rear airflow; actual thermal capacity depends on the installed equipment and room cooling.
