USB-C to HDMI adapter for 4K video

The Tripp Lite U444-006-H is a 6 ft USB-C to HDMI adapter cable that transmits UHD video up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz. It uses USB DisplayPort Alternate Mode to extend or mirror a desktop to an HDMI display without extra adapters. The reversible USB-C plug simplifies the connection to a compatible host device.

For single-display USB-C hosts needing HDMI

This cable suits laptops, tablets or desktops with a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode and only one external HDMI monitor. It will not work for hosts lacking Alternate Mode video output, for setups requiring 4K at 60 Hz, or for users who need multiple independent displays from one port.

30 Hz refresh at 4K resolution

The adapter delivers 3840 x 2160 resolution at a maximum 30 Hz refresh rate over the 6 ft cable. If the target display or application requires 4K at 60 Hz or higher, this cable does not meet that requirement and a different solution is needed.

Questions about this item

What type of HDMI port does the 6 ft cable connect to?

The cable ends in a male HDMI connector that plugs directly into any standard HDMI input on a monitor, TV or projector.

Does the USB-C plug require a specific port feature to carry video?

Yes, the host USB-C port must support DisplayPort Alternate Mode; the adapter will not transmit video from a USB-C port that only carries data or power.

Will the HDMI connector wear out from frequent plugging and unplugging?

The gold-plated HDMI male connector is rated for thousands of insertion cycles, so normal daily use will not degrade the connection.
