USB-C to HDMI adapter cable

The Tripp Lite U444-006-HDR2BE is a 6 ft uni-directional cable that connects an HDMI display to a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port on a laptop, MacBook Pro or smartphone. It requires the host to support USB DisplayPort Alt Mode and needs no driver installation. The reversible USB-C plug simplifies connection.

Passive cable thermals and power

As a passive cable assembly it draws no external power and produces no audible noise during operation. Heat generation is limited to the minimal resistance of the internal conductors and the HDMI 2.0 transmitter circuitry. The 6 ft length stays within the USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 Gen 1 5 Gbps signalling budget without active equalisation.

Sustained 4K 60 Hz HDR delivery

The adapter maintains true 4K at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma and 36-bit Deep Color for continuous video playback or desktop work. HDCP 2.2 compliance ensures protected content streams without interruption. DisplayPort 1.2 Alt Mode bandwidth carries the full 4096 x 2160 signal without compression or frame drops over extended sessions.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Tripp Lite U444-006-HDR2BE adapter cable, and what step do people often miss?

Plug the reversible USB-C connector into a port that supports DisplayPort 1.2 Alt Mode and connect the HDMI end to your display; no driver is required, but the adapter will not work if the USB-C port lacks video alt-mode support.

What maintenance or replacement will the Tripp Lite U444-006-HDR2BE need over time?

The 6 ft cable is a fixed, uni-directional assembly with no user-serviceable parts; if the connectors wear or the cable is damaged, the entire unit must be replaced.

What limit appears first when the Tripp Lite U444-006-HDR2BE runs at 4K 60 Hz for long periods?

The USB 3.0 or 3.1 Gen 1 link caps sustained bandwidth at 5 Gbps, which bounds the maximum 4K 60 Hz 4:4:4 36-bit deep-color signal before thermal or cable-length limits become factors.
