What this adapter does

The Tripp Lite U444-06N-H4-C adds an HDMI output and a USB-C Power Delivery charging port to a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port. It supports UHD video up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz for extending or mirroring a display. Plug-and-play operation requires no drivers or software installation.

What to verify before buying

Your host device must support USB DisplayPort Alternate Mode over its USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port for video output. The connected display needs an HDMI input. Power Delivery charging only works with PD-compliant devices such as certain laptops or tablets. Check your device specifications for Alt Mode and PD support.

Who this suits and who it does not

This adapter suits users who need a single 4K HDMI display and pass-through charging from one USB-C port. It is not for buyers who want 4K at 60 Hz or higher refresh rates. It is not for systems lacking DisplayPort Alternate Mode on their USB-C port. It is not for setups requiring multiple video outputs from a single adapter.

Questions about this item

Does the U444-06N-H4-C include any cables or do I need to buy an HDMI cable and a USB-C power cable separately?

The box contains the adapter and an owner's manual. An HDMI cable to reach your display and a USB-C power cable for the Power Delivery port are not included and must be purchased separately.

Should I pick this 30 Hz model or look for a 60 Hz version for my 4K monitor?

This adapter supports 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz. If your workflow needs 60 Hz at 4K you will need a different adapter; for typical office use, 30 Hz is often sufficient.

What does the 30 Hz figure mean when I plug this into my laptop's USB-C port?

The external 4K display will refresh at 30 frames per second, which is fine for documents and video playback but may show visible lag in fast gaming or high-speed mouse movement.
