Transparent radial ball bearing with 40 mm bore, 80 mm outside diameter and 18 mm width for oily environments
The Tritan 6208/C3 is a metric radial ball bearing built for rotating machinery that runs in oily or greasy environments. Its open closure allows lubricant to circulate freely through the rolling elements. Maintenance teams and equipment rebuilders use this industry-standard 6208 size to keep shafts turning smoothly under moderate radial loads.
This unit replaces sealed bearings when relubrication intervals are short and contamination exclusion is handled externally. The ABEC 1 rating and alloy steel construction suit standard precision requirements. The jump is worth it when the application demands a 40 mm bore, 80 mm outside diameter and 18 mm width with a dynamic radial load capacity of 6,500 lbf.
The bearing slides onto a 40 mm shaft with a tolerance of +0/-0.012 mm and seats in an 80 mm housing bore. A steel cage and AISI 52100 balls maintain alignment during operation. The most common issue is forcing the inner ring during mounting, which can brinell the raceways and shorten service life.

The bore measures 40 mm with a tolerance of +0/- 0.012 mm, so it fits a nominal 40 mm shaft.
Press the bearing onto the shaft squarely using a sleeve on the inner ring; the step often missed is applying lubricant before installation because the open closure has no seals.
Replace the bearing when vibration or noise indicates wear; the AISI 52100 balls and steel cage run in oily or greasy environments and have no fixed interval.
