45W MagSafe 2 T-tip adapter for MacBook Pro

This 45W replacement charger uses a MagSafe 2 T-tip connector to power compatible MacBook Pro models from 13, 15 and 17 inch sizes. It accepts AC 100-240V input at 50-60Hz and delivers DC 14.85V at 3.05A. The unit includes an LED indicator and a 70 inch cord. It is built for notebooks requiring 45W output.

Capacity and headroom

The adapter supplies up to 45W, matching the original specification for the listed 13, 15 and 17 inch MacBook Pro models from 2012 to 2015. It will run out of headroom on any machine that draws more than 45W, such as larger 85W configurations. The 3.42A AC input rating and 1.5A input current define the mains-side limits.

MagSafe 2 interface limits

The T-tip MagSafe 2 connector fits only devices designed for that magnetic interface; it cannot charge USB-C or original MagSafe 1 MacBooks. Output is fixed at 14.85V and 3.05A with no variable voltage negotiation. The 70 inch cable length sets the maximum reach from the mains outlet to the laptop.

Questions about this item

Will this 45W T-tip adapter charge my 2012 15-inch MacBook Pro as quickly as the original 85W unit did?

This adapter delivers 45W at 14.85V 3.05A, so it will power compatible 15-inch models but at a lower wattage than the 85W original, meaning slower charging under load.

How can I confirm the adapter is supplying power correctly once connected?

The built-in LED on the magnetic T-tip connector lights when the adapter is properly seated and delivering 14.85V to the MacBook.

Does the 70-inch cable include the AC mains plug or must I buy a separate wall cord?

The 70-inch cord integrates the AC plug for 100-240V 50-60Hz input; no separate mains cable is required.
