What This Two-Pack Replaces

This two-pack replaces the original HP 58X CF258X black toner cartridge with a high-yield compatible alternative. Each cartridge delivers approximately 10000 pages at five percent coverage. The set is designed for the LaserJet Pro M404 and M428 printer series.

Installing the Cartridges

Installation follows the standard front-access method used by the M404 and M428 series: open the toner door, remove the old unit, shake the new cartridge gently, pull the sealing tape straight out, and slide it in until it clicks. The most common issue is forgetting to remove the full length of the protective tape, which causes blank or streaked pages on the first few prints.

Check Your Printer Model First

Confirm that your device is a LaserJet Pro M404 or M428 series printer before ordering, as this cartridge is not compatible with other HP LaserJet families. Verify that your current cartridge number matches CF258X or 58X, because lower-yield 58A cartridges look similar but have a different page rating. Ensure the printer firmware is up to date, since some updates improve third-party cartridge recognition.
