Industrial inductive sensor

The Turck BC5-S18-AN4X 25031 is a flush-mount inductive proximity sensor with an M18 × 1 threaded barrel. It provides a rated switching distance of 5 mm and uses a DC 3-wire NPN normally-open output. The housing is moulded from PA12-GF30 plastic with a PEI sensing face. A cable tail supplies the electrical connection.

Upgrade from basic limit switches

This sensor replaces mechanical limit switches or lower-spec inductive units that lack fine adjustment. The built-in potentiometer allows precise setting of the switching point without shims. The jump is worthwhile when an application demands non-contact detection of metal targets at 5 mm with a wide 10…65 VDC supply range and solid-state reliability.

Sustained operation behaviour

Under continuous duty the sensor maintains its 5 mm switching threshold across the full 10…65 VDC window. The PA12-GF30 barrel resists oils, coolants and mechanical shock without degradation. NPN output switching remains consistent without contact bounce or wear, and the 110 g weight adds minimal mass to moving fixtures.
