Industrial proximity sensor for metal detection

The Turck NI20U-M30-RP6X-H1141 is a non-flush inductive sensor built for factory automation and machine-tool environments. Its factor-1 rating means every metal triggers at the same 20 mm switching distance, simplifying setup across mixed-metal lines. The PNP normally-closed output suits safety-oriented wiring where a broken wire must signal a fault. Chrome-plated brass housing and IP68 sealing let it survive coolant splash, wash-down and vibration.

Solid-state operation with no moving parts

Power draw is limited to the 10–30 VDC supply range and the sensor draws only the current required by its output stage. Switching frequency is high enough for fast conveyor or indexing cycles without contact bounce. The uprox®+ design rejects magnetic fields from nearby welders or motors, preventing false triggers. No fan, pump or mechanical wear exists, so acoustic noise is effectively zero and thermal load is negligible inside the enclosure.

M30 × 1.5 thread with M12 × 1 connector

The sensor mounts directly into a standard M30 × 1.5 threaded hole, requiring no bracket or adapter. A single 3-wire DC cable plugs into the M12 × 1 male connector, carrying power, ground and the PNP signal. Non-flush mounting demands clear space in front of the sensing face, but frees the barrel sides for tight gang-mounting. The 92 g weight adds minimal mass to moving heads or robotic arms. Builders needing analog output or a different thread size must choose another model.
