Electrode Holder for Stick Welding
The Tweco A-732 is a clamp-style electrode holder built for stick welding (SMAW). It accepts electrodes up to 7/32 in and connects via a ball point screw for 2/0 wire gauge. The copper alloy jaws provide a secure grip in heavy-duty applications. This tool is not for TIG or MIG processes that require a different torch type.
Thermal Behaviour Under Load
Rated at 300 A with a heavy-duty duty cycle, the copper alloy jaws conduct current efficiently during extended runs. The 10 in overall length keeps the operator's hand farther from the arc heat. No active cooling system is present, so heat dissipation relies on the material mass and ambient airflow. It is not suited for continuous automated welding beyond its rated capacity.
Six-Position Jaw and Ball Point Connection
The 6-position jaw allows the electrode to be set at multiple angles for joint access in tight spots. The ball point screw connection secures the cable without soldering, simplifying field replacement. These features reduce setup time and improve manoeuvrability on structural or pipe work. No additional accessories or software are included with the holder.

Questions about this item
How do I connect the welding cable to the ball-point screw on the A-732 holder?
Strip the 2/0 cable, insert it into the ball-point connection, and tighten the screw firmly; the step often missed is seating the cable fully before locking it down.
What part of the TwecoTong A-732 will wear out first and need replacement?
The copper-alloy clamp jaws and the 6-position jaw mechanism take the most heat and clamping force, so they are the components most likely to require replacement after heavy use.
At what amperage does the 300 A duty rating limit continuous welding on the A-732?
The holder is rated for 300 A heavy-duty use; sustained welding above that current will overheat the copper-alloy jaws and ball-point connection before any other part fails.
