TYAN Thunder I7501 Dual Xeon Embedded Board

The TYAN S2720U3GN-533 Thunder I7501 is a dual-processor embedded motherboard built for Socket-604 Xeon CPUs. It integrates U320 SCSI with RAID support alongside onboard video and LAN within an SSI EEB form factor. This platform targets industrial or server deployments requiring legacy multi-socket compute density and integrated storage connectivity.

Suits legacy dual-socket Xeon deployments

This board fits maintainers of existing Socket-604 infrastructure who need U320 SCSI RAID and integrated video and LAN in an SSI EEB layout. It does not suit builders who need newer processor interfaces, different storage protocols, or current expansion architectures. Buyers requiring single-socket designs or updated chipset features should evaluate alternative platforms.

Questions about this item

How does the 533 MHz front-side bus perform once the board is installed?

The 533 MHz front-side bus feeds both Xeon processors at full speed, keeping data flowing between the CPUs and the I7501 chipset without bottlenecks.

What does the U320 SCSI interface cap in real use?

U320 SCSI tops out at 320 MB/s per channel, so RAID arrays on this board are limited by that ceiling rather than the drive mechanics.
