24 GHz Wireless Bridge for Long-Range Links

The Ubiquiti Networks airFiber AF24 is a licensed-band wireless bridge built for point-to-point connectivity. It delivers up to 1.37 Gbit/s throughput over a single 24 GHz radio link. The integrated radio and antenna unit mounts on a pole for clear line-of-sight deployment. A single RJ-45 port provides Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet wired connectivity.

1.37 Gbit/s Capacity with 8.1 Mile Reach

At full rate the link handles demanding backhaul, campus interconnects or ISP last-mile traffic with low latency. Maximum outdoor range reaches 8.1 miles when antennas are perfectly aligned and unobstructed. Throughput drops if rain fade or misalignment degrades the 24 GHz signal. Buyers needing longer distance or higher aggregate capacity must consider multi-radio or lower-frequency solutions.

Questions about this item

Will the AF24's 1.37 Gbit/s link saturate the Gigabit Ethernet port on my existing switch?

The bridge delivers up to 1.37 Gbit/s over the air while the RJ-45 port negotiates at Gigabit Ethernet, so the wired side will cap throughput at 1 Gbit/s.

How do I verify the 8.1 mile range is actually achieved after pole-mounting?

Check the airOS management interface for received signal strength and modulation rate; a solid link at the rated distance shows near-maximum MCS index and low packet loss.
