Managed 48-port Gigabit PoE+ switch with two SFP+ uplinks and a 500W power budget
The Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch ES-48-500W is a fully managed Layer 2/3 switch built for rackmount deployment. It provides 48 Gigabit RJ45 ports, two SFP+ ports for 10 Gbps uplinks and two SFP ports for 1 Gbps uplinks. It is suited for network administrators who need intelligent switching and high-density PoE in a single managed unit.
Every RJ45 port supports IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ up to 34.2W and 24V passive PoE up to 17W, drawing from a shared 500W budget. The switch consumes 64W itself, leaving the remainder for attached devices such as access points, cameras or VoIP phones. SFP and SFP+ uplinks free the copper ports for endpoint connections while linking aggregation or core switches.
The 48-port model delivers up to 70 Gbps total non-blocking throughput, allowing line-rate traffic on all ports simultaneously. The 500W PoE budget supports many powered devices, though high-draw PoE+ endpoints will reduce the total port count available at maximum wattage. Buyers needing more than 48 powered ports or uplinks beyond 10 Gbps should plan for additional switching infrastructure.
