BaseStation for 5 GHz wireless links

The Ubiquiti Rocket Prism 5AC Gen 2 is a 5 GHz 802.11ac BaseStation built for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint deployments. It combines airMAX AC and airPrism radio technologies to improve spectral efficiency in high-density environments. The unit targets ISPs and network integrators who need reliable long-range connectivity.

Single Gigabit port and dual RP-SMA connectors

A single 10/100/1000 Ethernet port handles data and PoE power, so no separate power supply is required. Two waterproof RP-SMA connectors attach external sector or dish antennas, while a waterproof GPS port enables precise timing for co-located sectors. The Atheros MIPS 74Kc processor runs the airOS firmware for AP or Station modes.

Shielded metal housing

The EMI-shielded metal enclosure protects internal circuitry from interference and outdoor conditions. An integrated airView spectrum analyzer lets operators monitor noise and select the cleanest channel without extra hardware. GPS synchronisation further reduces self-interference when multiple sectors share a tower.

Questions about this item

What Ethernet speed does the single port support for sustained throughput?

The unit provides one 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, so the wired link caps at 1 Gbps under continuous load.

How hot or noisy does the shielded metal housing get during all-day operation?

The EMI-shielded metal enclosure passively dissipates heat without a fan, so it runs silently and stays within normal outdoor operating temperatures.

Which antennas and mounting hardware must I already have to install this basestation?

You need two RP-SMA compatible antennas for the radio chains and a pole or wall mount; the package includes only the radio unit itself.
