Outdoor surge protector with two RJ45 ports rated for 20kA discharge current and 10 GbE compatibility
The Ubiquiti Networks UACC-ETH-SP-Pro is a passive surge protector built for outdoor high-speed networks. It provides two shielded RJ45 female connectors that support data rates up to 10 Gbps. The unit is designed for installers who need reliable transient suppression on exposed cable runs. It mounts quickly without requiring external power.
A polycarbonate housing rated IPX5 shields the internal circuitry from rain and dust during normal operation. The device handles DC spark-over at 90V measured at 100V/s and a maximum impulse spark-over of 600V at 1kV/µs. Insulation resistance reaches 1G ohm at 50V with capacitance limited to 1.0 pF at 1 MHz. No active cooling or power draw is involved.
Under sustained surge events the protector can absorb up to 20kA of discharge current while maintaining line integrity. ESD and EMP protection responds across the full voltage rate range from 100V/s to 1kV/µs. The passive design ensures continuous operation without degradation after repeated transients. It remains compatible with PoE equipment throughout the event.

Connect the two RJ45 female connectors inline with your outdoor Ethernet cable run; the step people miss is bonding the unit to a proper earth ground or the 20kA discharge current cannot be safely diverted.
After a surge that approaches the 20kA discharge rating, inspect the polycarbonate enclosure for cracks and verify insulation resistance remains at 1G ohm @ 50V; replace the unit if either check fails.
The 1.0 pF @ 1 MHz capacitance ceiling is reached first, which can degrade 10 Gbps signal integrity before the 90V DC spark-over or 600V impulse thresholds are triggered.
