48-port Layer 3 managed switch

The USW-Pro-48 is a rack-mountable, managed switch designed for networks that require Layer 3 routing between VLANs and high-density copper connectivity. It targets administrators building aggregation or core layers where silent operation and 10 Gbps uplinks are needed.

88 Gbps non-blocking throughput

The switch provides 48 GbE RJ45 downlinks and four 1/10G SFP+ uplinks with a total non-blocking throughput of 88 Gbps and a switching capacity of 176 Gbps. Fanless cooling limits the operating temperature range to 45 °C, so airflow in the rack must handle the 60 W maximum power draw without active assistance.

Replaces 24-port or PoE-only aggregation

Moving from a 24-port Layer 2 edge switch doubles port density and adds static routing, DHCP services and inter-VLAN forwarding without a separate router. The upgrade is worthwhile when the network needs 10 Gbps backbone links, Pro AV port profiles or DC backup power input, but not when PoE endpoints must be powered directly.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 48-port Pro 48 or the 24-port Pro 24 for my rack?

The Pro 48 provides 48 GbE RJ45 ports plus four 10G SFP+ uplinks in a 1U rackmount chassis, while the Pro 24 halves the downlink count to 24 GbE ports with the same four 10G SFP+ uplinks and identical depth.

What does the 176 Gbps switching capacity mean for daily traffic?

It represents the total non-blocking fabric bandwidth; the switch can simultaneously forward up to 88 Gbps of real-world throughput across all 48 GbE downlinks and four 10G SFP+ uplinks without head-of-line blocking.

How do the four SFP+ ports limit uplink design?

Each SFP+ port accepts 1G or 10G transceivers, capping any single uplink at 10 Gbps and the aggregate uplink bandwidth at 40 Gbps when all four are populated with 10G modules.
